Incoming SMS live demo

Incoming SMS live demo

GSM-gateway Polygator software allows to process incoming SMS in various ways. One of the ways is to launch bash-script on gateway at moment a SMS received.

This demo-page shows SMS, received by SIM-cards in gateway during current day. Send some SMS to these numbers to make your own test.

Incoming SMS Live Demo

This public page to protect your privacy intentionally modifies sender’s number. Now each incoming SMS launches processing bash-script. The scripts sends the received SMS to this demo-page as JSON. Besides “FROM” and “TEXT” it passes data like: IMSI, gateway channel number, SMS-center number, etc.

When used together with remote SIM management technology, this feature can be very effective for building automated solutions processing hundreds of SIM-cards. Typical use scenarios include obtaining SMS-responses from clients, collecting OTG passwords and PIN-codes via SMS, etc.

Saving on calls 2 times and more

Saving on calls 2 times and more

Cutting costs for outgoing calls is the one of main ways how GSM-gateways are applied. If your company is currently using landlines for outgoing calls to cell phones – you already could save!

Outgoing call SIM-card choosing automation for many years allows cutting costs and optimizing workflow in sales departments, call-centers, taxi, e-shops, etc. GSM-gateway device automatically chooses SIM-card with minimal rate and places call at “home network” rate or special GSM-operator rate.

For example, currently one of Ukraine GSM-operators offers special SIM-cards for installing inside GSM-gateways. Local call to any mobile phone via such SIM-card costs 0.5 UAH/min (incl.VAT), to numbers inside operators’ “home” network – 0.2 UAH/min (incl.VAT). Compare it to the cost of the same call via fixed line (landline) operator – 1.2 UAH/min (incl. VAT). The difference of more than two times creates the same size opportunity for saving.

In order to cut call cost, buy GSM-gateways Polygator (Elgato Communications) – devices developed to implement this efficient cost saving process in the company.

Equipment being developed and manufactured in Ukraine since 2000, accompanied with 2 year warranty and 1 year of free tech.support.

IMEI change procedure

IMEI change procedure

One of the useful GSM-gateway Polygator features is an ability to change IMEI codes of its GSM-modules.

IMEI change action may be a subject to the law and other regulations. Consider consulting with your lawyer in advance.

With SIM-server

If you want to allow SIM-server software to change IMEI codes remotely, you need to perform only steps 1 and 2 (see below). Meanwhile, there is no need to type in new IMEI codes there – keep «Set ID» fields blank.

Further, the SIM-server software will handle IMEI change remotely on each allowed channel.

Procedure for standalone device

Via WEB-GUI:
1) Go to the menu “ID of modules”
2) Type in new IMEI codes into “Set ID” fields for channels where you want to change IMEI. Mark “Flag” checkbox for these channels, press “Send”.

IMEI change procedure
3) On the main page for each channel (flagged on step 2) repeat the following steps:
- Set checkbox “P” (Report) and click “Set”
- In bottom drop-down menu “Select command” choose “Write info to module” and click “Select”

IMEI change procedure

You can check the result on page “ID of modules”. There should be the new IMEI shown in the column “Current ID”. Now you can unset checkboxes “Flag” and click “Send” button to apply changes.

How to find IP and other settings of the gateway?

Normally you would know an IP-address of the gateway on shipment or from referencing WIKI

However, what if you are getting back to the device sometimes later after certain changes was made?

One of the ways to acquire device setting is browsing system USB-flash on some computer.

How to find IP and other settings of the gateway?

The system USB-flash is formatted as ReiserFS so you can read it anywhere just by installing supporting software. Of course, you should avoid re-formatting USB-flash and performing any disk-checks, as may be advised by some host OSes. You absolutely need to keep it as original. Further, with the help of certain Win/Mac/Linux utilities you can reach any files for reading.

For example, on Windows you can use DiskInternals Freeware Linux Reader or YAReG.

How to find IP and other settings of the gateway?

To find an IP-address of the GSM-gateway you navigate to /etc/rc.d/rc.network and browse the rc.network file until you see "echo LAN mode" text. This section lists your current network settings.

The same way you can jump to config-files of native SIP-client (SipUA) as well as to Asterisk main config-files such as extensions.conf and sip.conf.

Get incoming SMS’s via GSM-gateway in bulk (3-steps solution)

Get incoming SMS’s via GSM-gateway in bulk (3-steps solution)

If you need to get incoming SMS’s to your website/server here is one of the simplest solutions by Polygator:

1) connect GSM-gateway Polygator to Ethernet
2) insert SIM-cards
3) in special file specify your server address and data format (i.e. POST/JSON)

Since that moment, each incoming SMS sent to your server as a JSON-object, which includes message text, sender number, SIM-number etc. The same way GSM-gateway may pass incoming calls information.

Of course, this solution may be improved. For example, by using Remote SIM-Management technology. You may have small GSM-gateway and hundreds of SIM-cards in reserve (in SIM-bank). It is possible to put SIM-cards into GSM-network either by queue or by API-command etc.

The solution may be helpful for receiving one-time passwords (OTP) and confirmation codes when activating accounts in various online services, social networks etc.

DID-numbers creation by means of GSM-gateway

DID-numbers creation by means of GSM-gateway

Any model of VoIP-GSM gateway Polygator can serve for a creation of DID-numbers out of regular SIM-cards. For this purpose, you do not need any additional software - just standalone device. All you need is to enable all necessary options via WEB GUI and type in target SIP-addresses for each channel (like This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

The device may bring more DID-numbers into the numbers pool of any existing DID-provider. At the same time, it may help new DID-providers to start the business.

Although DID-numbers in most cases stand for inbound calls, with the help of GSM-gateway Polygator it is possible to setup outgoing calls via SIM-cards corresponding to DID-numbers.

Features for receiving and sending SMS via corresponding SIM-cards are also available.

SIM-server API for custom VoIP and SMS-solutions

SIM-server API for custom VoIP and SMS-solutions

The SIM-server enables a flexible approach to SIM-cards management in VoIP-solutions (voice) as well as in SMS-solutions. It allows avoiding physical SIM-cards insertion into GSM-gateways and replaces it by logical «virtual» insertion of SIM-cards in gateway’s channels. Use of SIM-server technology dramatically expands the sphere of application for GSM-gateways, opens new possibilities for system scaling and for solving new tasks.

The multifunctional API for SIM-server management is available. It supports two main operating modes – AUTO-commutation mode and MANUAL-commutation mode. In the AUTO mode, the system initiates commutation of free SIM-cards automatically according to parameters set in advance. In the MANUAL mode commutation made only after receiving a certain API-command. The API SIM-server enables user to build high complexity system and create solution for non-standard task.

The gateway connected to the SIM-server keeps its normal features working. It can be interacted by user or by third-party software via the same VoIP and SMS-protocols and the same way as when SIM-cards inserted directly in the device.
