One of the useful GSM-gateway Polygator features is an ability to change IMEI codes of its GSM-modules.

IMEI change action may be a subject to the law and other regulations. Consider consulting with your lawyer in advance.

With SIM-server

If you want to allow SIM-server software to change IMEI codes remotely, you need to perform only steps 1 and 2 (see below). Meanwhile, there is no need to type in new IMEI codes there – keep «Set ID» fields blank.

Further, the SIM-server software will handle IMEI change remotely on each allowed channel.


Procedure for standalone device

1) Go to the menu “ID of modules”
2) Type in new IMEI codes into “Set ID” fields for channels where you want to change IMEI. Mark “Flag” checkbox for these channels, press “Send”.

3) On the main page for each channel (flagged on step 2) repeat the following steps:
- Set checkbox “P” (Report) and click “Set”
- In bottom drop-down menu “Select command” choose “Write info to module” and click “Select”

You can check the result on page “ID of modules”. There should be the new IMEI shown in the column “Current ID”. Now you can unset checkboxes “Flag” and click “Send” button to apply changes.

SIM-server “QuickStart” manual has been added to website with documentation for Polygator products.


The document includes a step-by-step description to start a minimal set of hardware and software in order to enable the GSM-gateway obtain SIM-cards «virtually» from remote SIM-bank storage.

The Minimal set to create SIM-server complex includes: 1 GSM-gateway, 1 SIM-bank and Linux-server, with «Polygator SIM-server» software installed. The document lists the main steps to perform via SIM-server web-interface. Please note: SIM-server devices address space must provide «visibility» of all devices from SIM-server IP-address.

Normally you would know an IP-address of the gateway on shipment or from referencing WIKI

However, what if you are getting back to the device sometimes later after certain changes was made?

One of the ways to acquire device setting is browsing system USB-flash on some computer.


How to find IP and other settings of the gateway?


The system USB-flash is formatted as ReiserFS so you can read it anywhere just by installing supporting software. Of course, you should avoid re-formatting USB-flash and performing any disk-checks, as may be advised by some host OSes. You absolutely need to keep it as original. Further, with the help of certain Win/Mac/Linux utilities you can reach any files for reading.

For example, on Windows you can use DiskInternals Freeware Linux Reader or YAReG.

How to find IP and other settings of the gateway?


To find an IP-address of the GSM-gateway you navigate to /etc/rc.d/ and browse the file until you see "echo LAN mode" text. This section lists your current network settings.

The same way you can jump to config-files of native SIP-client (SipUA) as well as to Asterisk main config-files such as extensions.conf and sip.conf.

The SIM-server enables a flexible approach to SIM-cards management in VoIP-solutions (voice) as well as in SMS-solutions. Feature of sending, receiving of SMS and DLRs by means of SMPP is present in G8/G20 gateway since very first firmware versions. This way gateway acts as basic SMPP-server. One of the unique SMPP-server features provided by recent firmware updates is multiple account support.

Ability to create several SMPP-accounts in one gateway allow assigning GSM-channels explicitly to user-accounts. This feature enables you to split GSM-channels between remote users, give channels for rent etc.
